A few years ago. God spoke to me and told me that I have a problem with pornography and that I should stop. I mean literally spoke. You know when God gives you that nudge-nudge when He tries to tell you something? And how when it's something big and you don't listen, God gets really loud? Yeah... really loud moment that day.
That was the first time I had realized myself that there was a problem, as well as the first time I opened up to my wife about it.
Obviously, my efforts, or lack thereof, to battle this addiction were for naught, otherwise we wouldn't be here and this blog wouldn't exist.
I would like to share a song from a Christian band who call themselves, Staple. The song is Deathtrap Daisy and is about the singer's own struggles with pornography addiction. This song speaks to me on so many levels, especially now. The reality of pornography addiction is so pervasive in today's world and yet the shame it carries with it makes those involved go to great lengths to hide it.
Praise God for turning me around before things got worse. Things are bad, don't get me wrong. But they could be a whole lot worse. We must just continue to trust God and ask Him to be our lighthouse in a sea of shame and distrust.
Please continue to pray for my and my wife. Please pray for our kids--they see a lot of crying and see us selling stuff and they don't know what is going on. I'm sure this is all very strange for them.
